Shabash Pavo
Raster graphics standardization
Pavo automatically standardizes raster graphics, checking for resolution and colour management problems.
Print-standard TIFF
Pavo converts a variety of authored bitmap file formats into TIFF for print production workflows, including JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG.
Online standards
Pavo can be used to convert TIF into Web raster formats including JPG, GIF and PNG.
Note: EPS files can also be converted into these formats, but much better results can be achieved using vector standardization to apply a dedicated online vector standard.
Resolution check
Pavo checks that files conform to publisher standard resolutions. This will generally be around 300 dpi for photographic images, but much higher for line scans.
Pavo can be set to alert that files are of inappropriately low resolution.
Colour handling
Pavo checks to ensure:
- RGB values are converted into CMYK for print (if necessary)
- any process or CMYK values are converted into RGB for online formats.
Colour files can be automatically converted to black and white for print, subject to budgetary constraints, but preserved in colour for online presentation.
