Context matching

If
suitable paragraph style maps do not exist, Merops para
uses criteria to identify a title paragraph, including typesize and
weight, location within the document and position relative to other
identified paragraphs.
Merops para
uses other powerful components to identify and map some paragraph
types:
• Merops locatio and Merops nominus are used to establish affiliations,
correspondence addresses and author groups;
• list styles are applied to
sequential numbered or bulleted paragraphs;
• a ‘displayed quotation’ style
is applied to paragraphs wholly enclosed by quote marks.

Term matching
|
Some
paragraphs can be identified because of repeat introductory terms. For
example, groups of keywords and abbreviations tend to be preceded by a
‘heading’. Merops para includes multiple
variants of the same term, so will find Key words, KEYWORDS and key-words.
Merops para
hosts data tables of persistent heading names, e.g. INTRODUCTION,
Patents & methods, Acknowledgements. These tables, which support
international languages, can be maintained and improved by individual
users, or database administrators if a centralized solution is required.
Merops para
interacts with Merops graphica and
Merops mensa to
identify and style legends to figures and tables based around persistent but
variable paragraph starts, subject to context, such as FIG, figs, Tab.,
etc.
