Merops espelir

spelling

Merops espelir automatically corrects spelling inconsistencies.

A Gray [or Grey!] Kingbird

Errors

Data tables can be kept and maintained on repeat and predictable keying errors.

‘s’ and ‘z’ spellings

The Merops espelir automates standardization on the Oxford English Dictionary’s recommended ‘z’ spellings for ‘ize’ endings, and ‘s’ spellings for ‘yse’ endings, but includes a comprehensive exception list.

These transformations can be set to run in the other direction, depending on publisher style guidelines.

American or
British English

Merops espelir hosts US/UK alternative spelling in data tables, dealing with, for example:

   dipthongs (e.g. caesium vs. cesium)

   letter substitutions (e.g. grey vs. gray)

   letter inversions (center vs. centre)

   preferred word endings (geological vs. geologic)

Context-driven

Used in conjunction with other modules, Merops espelir’s corrections can be suppressed in parts of the document that should remain unaffected. For example:

   Merops biblio will ensure the contents of reference titles remain as the author keyed them;

   Merops locatio can be used to refer to the context of an address to ensure consistency (e.g. Center will be used if the address is American).
