Variability

Numerical Vancouver citations can be presented in one of a variety of ways by an author. Merops biblio vancouver checks the document first for the default style, for example numbers housed in square brackets [1], but then continues to check alternatives – in parentheses (1) or as superscripts1 – if citations appear to be missing or out of sequence.

Exception handling

Because Merops uses a comprehensive range of algorithms, ‘false’ Vancouver links are excluded from matches: expressions like He2+, 10 m2, χ2, are marked up as elements that should not be included in the search.

Renumbering

If Merops biblio vancouver will renumber the references and their citations if:

duplicate references are found in the list

the editor chooses to add or delete a reference

the citations are found and confirmed to be out o sequence

Stylistic consistency

Once identified, the correct style of presentation, and correct placement relative to punctuation, can be applied automatically, e.g. (1,2,3,4) becomes (14).

Harvard–Vancouver conversion

One of the most conspicuous demonstrations of Merops as a labour-saving tool is its ability to convert from the Harvard system to Vancouver, and vice versa. This process, made possible using Merops biblio harvard, is sometimes necessary for multiple-author books, and often crops up in journal publishing, can take hours for an editor to complete.
