Shabash Merops

Document objects

Merops contains over 85 customizable rules relating to figures, formulae, tables, footnotes and external links.

The information below describes just a small percentage of the rules Merops can apply to names.

Tables

Standardization

Merops can identify and standardize the presentation of table citations and labels:

  • See tab. II to IV See Tables 2-4
  • TAB. I- The… Table 1. The…

Citation preferences are context specific, so Merops can apply one standard in general text, and another in parentheses, and/or tables.

Merops can automatically convert tabular data separated by multiple spaces and tabs into cellular tables.

Cross-checking

Merops can:

  • check that table citations and the tables themselves are in sequence and alerts errors;
  • alert if it finds a citation but no table, or if it finds a table that hasn’t been cited;
  • crosscheck, sort, and standardize table footnotes;
  • generate an abbreviations list based on abbrevations found in a table.New!

The Merops interface comes with some useful table-editing tools, such as 'Invert Table' and 'Delete empty rows/columns'.

Figures and formulae

Standardization

Merops can standardize and correct the presentation of formula and figure citations and labels:

  • See eqn (IV.a) See Equation 4a
  • Eqn 1: a + b = c a + b = c [1]
  • FIG. 1- The… Figure 1. The…

Citation preferences are context specific, so Merops can apply one standard in general text, and another in parentheses, and/or tables.

Merops can also apply an abbreviated standard to citations in general text, while ensuring they are spelled out in full at the start of a sentence.

Cross-checking

Merops checks that citations and the figures/formulae themselves are in sequence and alerts errors.

Merops alerts the user if it finds a citation but no figure/formula or if it finds a formula or figure that hasn’t been cited.

External links

Merops can:

  • recognize URLs and email addresses and turn them into hyperlinks;
  • standardize between ’http://www…’ and ’www…’ at the start of URLs;
  • can standardize the format of URLs and email addresses;
  • alert if URLs and email domain names cannot be validated online as there may be a spelling error.
